Patti Smith è stata onorata con un grande concerto di beneficenza, intitolato "People Have The Power: A Celebration Of Patti Smith".

Tra gli artisti presenti Bruce Springsteen Michael Stipe, Johnny Depp , Michael Stipe,  Johnny DeppFlea dei Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Bruce Springsteen, con la band guidata da Tony Shanahan, Flea e Steve Jordan batterista del tour dei Rolling Stones , hanno eseguito "Because The Night".

Scarlett Johansson, Jim Jarmusch e Sean Penn hanno letto alcune poesie di Patti Smith. In cocnlusione tutti gli artisti presenti alla serata hanno eseguito con Patti Smith "People Have The Power".
