Il 31 marzo 1987 Prince pubblica l'album "Sign o' the Times", il suo nono album di studio. Il disco contiene le hit "If I Was Your Girlfriend", "U Got the Look" (con Sheena Easton) e la title track "Sign o' the Times". La rivista Time Out nel 1989 ha definito questo album il migliore di tutti i tempi.
